Good News for People on SSDI or SSI who Want to Work
Do you want to work, but are afraid to take a job or increase your hours because you think you might lose your Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) benefits, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or medical benefits? NJWINS provides FREE information and technical assistance to enable you to make these decisions and possibly change the direction of your life.
Advancing Opportunities' trained Community Work Incentives Coordinators can provide:
- Confidential Social Security Work Incentive consultations
- Consultations in person or over the phone
- Presentations to community groups
- Information to assist in decision making
Our Community Work Incentive Coordinators can also help you find the answers to the questions you may have about the impact employment will have on your benefits. Such as:
- How long will my medical benefits continue once I start working?
- How much can I earn before I start losing benefits?
- How long will my SSI/SSDI continue while I work?
- What happens if I lose my job?
- Can I work again on a trial basis yet retain my benefits?
Who is eligible?
Individuals between the ages of 14 and 65 who are receiving Supplemental Security
Income (SSI) or Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI)cash benefits.
NJWINS is a Social Security Work Incentive Planning and Assistance program funded through the U.S. Social Security Administration.
