Real Life Choices in Action
Dennis Brooks putting away canned goods
Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey has helped brothers Dennis and Michael Brooks move away from what they described as a boring day program and start volunteering in the community.

With a job coach, they have enjoyed weeding and planting at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit and volunteering in the kitchen and laundry at JFK Hartwyck at Cedar Brook, a nursing, convalescent and rehabilitation center.

Real Life Choices

In New Jersey, people with disabilities and their families have been waiting for Real Life Choices, a program that puts decision-making power into their hands.

The first step in receiving Real Life Choices begins by contacting your Regional Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) office or your case manager.

Working with your Support Coordinator, you will develop a Plan of Care. When it comes to implementing that Plan of Care, Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey can help.
  • Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey can provide Individual Support and Family Support. We can also provide support and training in the following areas: Daily Living Skills, Job Readiness Training and Job Coaching.

  • Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey employs a staff of highly qualified, caring individuals who have been trained in Essential Lifestyle Planning. Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey encourages its staff to be creative and explore all possibilities when implementing a Plan of Care.

  • Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey has been a leader in the field of disability services for over 55 years. We offer employment services, respite care, family support, support to schools and students, residential services, and advocacy services. Cerebral Palsy of New Jersey has also been providing Assistive Technology Services since 1985. We also have hundreds of connections with businesses and community resources.
