Considering Assistive Technology: How Do We Do That?
According to IDEA, school districts must consider assistive technology needs when developing a student's IEP. What exactly does that mean? How do school based teams determine need for assistive technology? Using the information developed by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families, Office of Education (A Training Series on Assistive Technology Integration in the Education Process), we will explore the many issues surrounding assistive technology in education. These issues will include evaluations, training, and trial periods. We will also explore a variety of assistive technology tools related to the 16 performance areas described in the Office of Education Training Series.
